Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

You provide most of what we have directly:

• Account info: your email address, password, and username.
• Profile info: display name, bio, location, and photo, plus anything you add for animals or business pages you create (names, breed, lineage, care logs, and so on).
• Content: posts, photos, comments, reviews, and messages you send other users.
• Connection info: who you follow or connect with, and any role or co-owner relationships you set up.

We also automatically receive some basic technical information (like IP address and browser type) through our hosting provider as part of normal web traffic, and a session cookie that keeps you logged in.

2. How we use your information

• To operate the Service — show your profile, posts, and animals to the people you're connected to, and vice versa.
• To send you notifications and emails you'd expect (connection requests, invites, account confirmation) — see Section 4.
• To respond when you contact us for support.
• To keep the Service secure and enforce our Terms of Service.

We don't use your information to serve third-party ads, and we don't sell your personal information.

3. What's visible to other users

animaLinked is a social platform, so some information is inherently visible to other users: your username, display name, bio, location, avatar, animals, posts, and reviews are visible to anyone using the Service (or the specific audience you post to, where applicable). Your email address and password are never shown to other users. Direct messages are only visible to you and the person you're messaging.

4. Service providers

We share information with a small number of providers who help us run animaLinked:

• Supabase — our database, authentication, and photo storage.
• Resend — delivers the emails we send (notifications, invites, account confirmation).
• Vercel — hosts the website and app.

Each only has access to what it needs to provide its service to us, and none are permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

5. Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your own account at any time from your profile page, which removes your profile, posts, and related content, along with your login. This can't be undone.

7. Children's privacy

animaLinked isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

8. Your choices

You can update most of your information directly from your profile at any time. You can also contact us to ask what information we have about you or to request its deletion beyond what self-service account deletion covers.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures, such as encrypted connections, to protect your information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so we can't promise it's absolute.

10. International users

animaLinked is operated from the United States, and information is processed and stored on infrastructure located there.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll post the update here with a new "Last updated" date.
